My Face is Not My Own is a short film based on the childhood of writer and director Claire Offenberger. she explores the intimacy of family, yet one fractured by age and ailment. Though the film was short, viewers watched a girl’s childhood slowly fade into a bleak reality. As she struggles to accept that her grandmother no longer recognizes her, the girl’s past becomes a ghost. The faded pinks and subtle reflection of the girl’s face reflect her loss of innocence and even perhaps happiness. The CD plays her grandmother’s favorite song—does she even remember it, or is that memory lost as well?
